Featuring 2009 VSA International Young Soloists Award Recipient Karl Schwonik
2009 VSA International Young Soloists Award recipient Karl Schwonik and his jazz trio return to the Kennedy Center to perform on the Millennium Stage. Schwonik, who is legally blind, grew up in rural Alberta where he was exposed to countless musical styles ranging from polka music to jazz. Since that time, he has performed with musicians Dave Douglas, Chucho Valdes, Dave Liebman, and many others. In 2010, Schwonik will be releasing two CDs on Calgary's Chronograph Records. Also in 2010, Schwonik's new book, The Emerging Musician, will be published.
